There were fears that budget cuts and rezoning plans would hit rural community schools across the East Kilbride area.

A pupil meeting saw families and pupils protest the move which could have seen the likes of Auldhouse Primary and Chapelton Primary face the axe.

Surprisingly for parents from East Kilbride, Greenhills Primary was also touted for closure despite high demand in the town.
