Claremont’s enthusiastic outingtodam

East Kilbride News - - DISTRICT NEWS -

There was plenty to be enthusiastic about when Claremont walkers set out for Gartmorn Dam, Clackmannanshire.

Long and alternative walks were scheduled with both routes starting from the same point.

The long walkers continued onto the south side from the visitors’ centre within Gartmorn Dam Country Park and in a circular route returned to the start, covering 9.5 miles of varied and muddy terrain.

Alternative walkers stayed on the north side of the dam and, again on a circular route which covered eight miles, returned to the start; passing through Coalsnaughton and Devonside.

The morning stop was in Morrisons, Alloa and the social hour in the town’s very lively Old Brewery.

The next outing will be this Sunday with the destination Gartmore to Aberfoyle.

Individuals wishing to join either walks or club nights can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome.
