East Kilbride ..... 6 Loch Lomond .... 1
East Kilbride Ladies booked their place in the next round of the Scottish District Plate on Sunday after a great display of passing and patience.
After a wobbly first few minutes, in which keeper Mairi MacDonald had to deflect a shot away from goal, the Topek-sponsored side got their act together.
EK began to display some of the best passing moves they’ve put together all season and Loch Lomond hardly had a touch of the ball.
The home side stayed patient and got their reward on the 20 minute mark through Paula Richmond after a period of pressure.
Sheona Hutchison added a second five minutes later from a short corner before Richmond scored again to make it 3-0 at the break.
When Hutchison stretched the lead early in the second half it looked like the second period would be as comfortable as the first. But the visitors had other plans.
They pushed further up the pitch and got their reward after a few missed chances with 15 minutes left to play. With EK defenders at sea the ball headed straight in.
It was the shock EK needed to get back into their passing stride and the whole team linked well once again.
It was no surprise when Hutchison got her hat-trick, then a fourth to take the final score to 6-1. N-ice one
