David Doherty from Whitehills said: “I think the problem essentially lies with central then local government.

“I also think there needs to be more jobs for folk and yet again the Tories are squeezing the working class. The cuts to benefits are also an issue for a lot of families.” Stephen Taylor from The Murray said:“It’s terrible in this day and age that anyone is living in poverty but especially children. I think politicians need to do more.” David O’Neill from The Murray said: “Sadly, it’s not just kids living on the breadline – it’s all ages. Even families where two parents are out working are struggling to give their kids everything they want to. A lot of it has to do with benefit changes as well and there just aren’t the job opportunities in EK now.” Esther Wilson from Greenhills said:“I think the figures for child poverty are terrible. I think it is down to government and lifestyle – but probably more so government.

“It’s also a struggle for folk to get work.”
