Silversets upAileen forKorea
Strathaven wheelchair curler Aileen Neilson geared up for next month’s Winter Paralympics in South Korea by reaching the final of the British Open last week.
In their final event before heading to Peyongchang, Aileen’s team – representing Scotland – narrowly missed out at an extra end to Korea, who they will meet again next month.
The British Paralympic representatives, competing as Team Scotland at the event hosted by Lanarkshire Ice Rink in Hamilton, were mixing it with teams which included Paralympic representatives from Sweden and Germany, as well as Denmark’s national team.
Skip Neilson said: “We reached the semi-finals undefeated and secured a win against Sweden’s Paralympic team to face Korea in the final.
“The event provided a great opportunity to compete in a high-class line-up and it was a great confidence boost, beating Germany and Sweden.”
