Council probe workers incident
Council bosses have launched an investigation after two workers were spotted throwing rubbish off a 40ft high block of flats in East Kilbride.
The shocking incident, in Easdale, St Leonards was caught on camera by a member of the public on Monday, March 5.
In the photos, the workers, wearing hi-viz jackets, are pictured peering over the edge of the four-storey building after one throws handfuls of materials to the ground below.
Members of the public were seen walking in the area while the men were working on the roof but no one has been reported as being injured.
The workers reportedly arrived in a South Lanarkshire Council van before making their way to the top of the building where they cleared debris for over an hour.
The local authority this week confirmed that an investigation is now underway.
Frank McCafferty, head of property services, said: “The council will carry out an investigation into the incident reported and appropriate action will be taken against any employees who have breached the council’s policies.”
