Motorola were to invest £40million in their East Kilbride plant and create a further 200 jobs to bring the workforce up to about 1900. The bulk of the investment would be dedicated towards creating a new silicon chip facility.

Glen Road in College Milton, threatened with closure to make way for a new northern distributor road, was given a reprieve for up to a year and £30k was promised to tackle congestion.
