Duncanrig Secondary School’s concert band went for gold – and clinched it.

The school achieved yet another overall first place at the Scottish Concert Band Festival in Perth.

Principal teacher of music and drama at the school, Jo Ramsay, said: “I was so proud of each and every one of the pupils who performed.

“They were commended for their vibrant and energetic playing, their excellent ensemble awareness and rich tone quality.

“Their performance of ‘Arabian Dances’ was so exciting and well interpreted that it achieved a gold plus.

“Considering this band ranges from S1-6 and includes players who have only been playing a year or two, this is some achievement and all credit must go to Mr Shanks who has work tirelessly with them to achieve this high standard.”
