Championship display for duo Pupils secure PB scores in competition
A third year Calderglen High pupil finished with two personal best scores at a British competition recently.
Katy Andrews competed in the FIG British Gymnastics championship at Stoke on Trent.
Katy and her partner Holly Dougan, from Holy Cross High School in Hamilton, finished with not one but two personal best scores in both their balance and dynamic routines.
This display placed them overall 12th in Britain for their disciplines – which is a fantastic achievement at such a high level of competition.
Coach and PE teacher, Sarah Marshall, said: “I could not be prouder of the two girls.
“The girls exceeded all expectations including their own, with two lovely, clean displays.
“This was an amazing performance for their very first FIG British Championships. Well done girls.”
Next, the girls have their sights on finishing the rest of the season successfully with their club, Hamilton Gymnastics.
They now have their sights set on placing as high as possible in their events to qualify for other British and European competitions.
