House­break-in charges­de­nied

Trial was set for a man ac­cused of break­ing into prop­er­ties in Ste­wart­field and steal­ing high-value items in­clud­ing cars and com­puter equip­ment.

Wil­liam Ste­wart, 43, ap­peared from cus­tody and de­nied two charges of theft and house­break­ing when he ap­peared at Hamil­ton Sher­iff Court.

He pled not guilty to break­ing into a prop­erty in Moss­dale on June 1 last year and steal­ing car keys along with a car, a quan­tity of cloth­ing, a hand­bag, com­puter equip­ment, a mo­bile phone and cash.

He also de­nied a break-in at a prop­erty in Dun­robin Court where it is al­leged he stole items in­clud­ing car keys, a car, bank cards and cash.

Trial was set for May 8.
