Greenhills Senior Citizens’ Club welcomed guests and enjoyed an afternoon of musical entertainment.

Singer Evelyn was in fine voice and members of the club were joined by service users of East Kilbride Dementia Carers Group and visitors from the town’s Meldrum Gardens care home and the Harry Heaney Centre in Spittal, Rutherglen.

Club chair Councillor Archie Buchanan said: “Everyone had a great afternoon enjoying refreshments while listening to Evelyn, with many individuals taking to the floor.

“The highlight of the day was when a gentleman with a great voice from East Kilbride Dementia Carers Group joined Evelyn in a duet which was absolutely terrific and met with rapturous applause from all those attending.”

The club, which meets at Greenhills Community Centre on Fridays at 1pm, is open to everyone in the town.

This week’s visitor is Brian Doig, co-ordinator of East Kilbride Dementia Carers group, and homemade soup, crusty bread, tea and coffee will follow.
