Res­i­dents dis­cuss watch scheme

Mur­ray Com­mu­nity Coun­cil are in dis­cus­sions to launch a neigh­bour­hood watch in the area.

The de­ci­sion was made fol­low­ing a com­plaint at their meet­ing last month re­gard­ing a car in White­hills Drive which had two win­dows smashed.

Fol­low­ing the in­ci­dent, the or­gan­i­sa­tion are now look­ing for res­i­dents who are in­ter­ested in start­ing a watch scheme in The Mur­ray.

Sec­re­tary June Harpum is cur­rently in­volved in con­sult­ing lo­cals about the start-up.

The news fol­lows CCTV cam­eras be­ing put in place at the Mur­ray Square near the cash ma­chines – which sit in a se­cluded spot.

How­ever, the tem­po­rary in­stal­la­tion is cur­rently un­der re­view.

Mean­while, the com­mu­nity coun­cil have can­celled their next meet­ing.

Mem­bers were due to meet to­mor­row night but the fo­rum has been post­poned and will now take place on Thurs­day, June 14 at 7.30pm in the Mur­ray Owen Cen­tre.

Ev­ery­one in the area is wel­come along to raise mat­ters of in­ter­est.
