Ballet Bees do so much brilliant work and need to keep on going
Hello and welcome to this week’s edition of the East Kilbride News.
Our front page story today, which you can read more about on page 7, is about a group called the Ballet Bees.
What a lovely little club this is; live music and contemporary dance for children with disabilities and, sadly, life-limiting illnesses.
The News has featured the group many times before but today they are sending out an SOS.
The threat of closure hangs over the Bees unless they can link up with another local club who can assist with voluntary support.
They have the venue, enthusiasm and kids – but they need more help when it comes to putting on sessions.
Dr Lisa Cameron, the MP for East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow, has took up the fight and we encourage any dance or community group to get in touch to see if you can be the Bees’ saviour.
It’s heartbreaking to hear that children, for whom life is already difficult enough, could be denied access to a club which provides them with so much joy and pleasure.
We are confident there are people out there who can help keep the Bees buzzing – we want to hear from you.
Elsewhere in the paper and you can treat yourself to one or two nice things from the shops at EK, East Kilbride if you enter our competition to win a £50 gift card. See page 16 for details.
Also, now that the lighter nights are here, going out for a meal is an appetising prospect and on page 36 we have a competition to win a £50 gift voucher for Di Maggio’s East Kilbride.
You can have your say in East Kilbride View which can be found on page 32. Want to get something off your chest?
