Two district council committees split over a decision to open up toilets for general use in Kirktonholme play area.
The environmental health committee agreed to support a request from Councillor Anna Todd to open toilets for public use during normal council convenience hours instead of just football matches. But the parks committee previously voted against her request.
Members of East Kilbride‘s Townswomen’s Guild marked its golden jubilee by embarking on a spring weekend break to Pitlochry. A party of 33 ladies enjoyed an evening at Pitlochry Theatre and a visit to Scone Palace and were eager to organise another trip for the following year.

A wandering cat who spent two days stuck on a roof was thrilled to be rescued from his perch – so delighted that he bit his rescuer and refused to let go.

A West Mains man won council backing to erect a garage on a bronze age burial site. Human remains and artefacts dating back to 2000 BC were believed to be interred on the greenbelt zone in Kittochfield.
The 4000-year-old site was known as Knocklegoil Cairn.
The long-awaited building of Strathaven’s swimming pool got underway. South Lanarkshire Council organised a special ceremony to mark the cutting of the first turf. The pool was set to include a gym and sauna.
