East Kilbride FC’s under-18s have landed a glamour tie with Rangers in the Scottish FA Youth Cup.

The Kilby kids were drawn away to the Ibrox side in last week’s draw and will travel to The Hummel Training Centre – the first team’s training complex – next month for the third-round clash.

EK, who won the U17 SYFA Scottish Cup last season, thrashed Alloa 5-1 in the last round to earn their shot at the Glasgow giants.

Boss Craig Young said:“I’m delighted for the boys. They have been rewarded for all their hard work over the last year.

“It will be a brilliant experience and I’m really excited for them.”

Young, who was assistant to Billy Stark at EK’s Lowland team last season, added:“I would have liked something else as I’d set a target of getting to the last 16 and this is going to be a difficult game. But this is as big a draw as we could have got and the boys will learn from it.”

The tie will be played on Friday, November 9.
