West Mains bowler Kieran Clin­ton has qual­i­fied for the semi-fi­nals of the Scot­tish Mas­ters.

The East Kil­bride In­door Bowl­ing Club player im­pressed on his home green as the Calder­wood venue hosted the qual­i­fy­ing stages of the Scot­tish Mas­ters for the South and West area at the end of Septem­ber.

And three other play­ers reached the last four along­side Kieran, with Blan­tyre BC’s Iain McLean, In­ver­clyde BC’s John Flem­ing Jnr and Blair David­son of Ar­drossan BC.

In his open­ing match Clin­ton man­aged to se­cure a score of 11-3 in the first set and 9-5 in the sec­ond set against In­ter­na­tion­al­ist Robert Gor­don from La­nark­shire.

He was then up against Gor­don Pren­tice, also from La­nark­shire, and won in style, tak­ing the first set10-3 and the sec­ond set 11-6.

The fi­nal game of the day to progress to the semi fi­nal stages was against John Car­swell of Galleon In­door Bowl­ing Club. Kieran edged a close first set 10-8 be­fore go­ing onto to claim the sec­ond set 9-4 and book his semi slot.

He will now bat­tle it out for a place in the fi­nal when Glas­gow In­door Bowl­ing Club hosts the later stages of the com­pe­ti­tion on Sun­day, Oc­to­ber 28.
