Bronze for Ross at Euros

Ross‘The Boss’Montgomery was among the medals at the Europe Cup as he claimed bronze in Budapest.

The Greenhills thrower partnered fellow Scot Alan Soutar in the pairs event, but they fell at the semi-final stage to Dutch duo Kleermaker and Landman.

It was enough to earn bronze for Scotland, who finished fifth overall at the team competition in Hungary.

The Boss said:“We played really well. Alan was great all tournament and was unlucky not to win gold in the singles.

“We gelled well as we always do and overall it was a good performance.

“I’m just disappointed we didn’t get out of the group in the team event. That’s where most of the points are and we finished third in our group. Russia beat us 9-4 and Republic of Ireland beat us 9-6, so that was frustrating.

“It’s still quite an achievement when you consider there was a record 38 teams competing this year.

“I’ve won six Europe Cup and six World Cup medals, so that’s not a bad tally over the last few years.”
