Two-year jail term after house thefts
A housebreaker who targeted homes in East Kilbride has been jailed for two years at Hamilton Sheriff Court.
John Paul Chambers, described as a prisoner, admitted stealing jewellery, cash, a camera and a games console after forcing entry to a property in Galt Place, The Murray on April 29.
The 40-year-old also admitted breaking into a house in Glasgow Road, Nerston with intent to steal and taking an iPad and bank cards from a house in Craig Hill, The Murray – both also on April 29.
Allegations that Chambers struggled with a man at the scene of the housebreaking in Glasgow Road and threatened a man with a knife in Craig Hill were dropped.
Chambers’not guilty plea to another charge – alleging he stole various items after breaking into a house in Glen Grove, The Murray on May 12 – was accepted.
