IN THE PARK
WHILE we’re still in the chilly part of the year it’s good to look ahead to sunny summer evenings, especially if you’re fond of a little al fresco music.
The hugely popular Classic Ibiza makes a return to the grand setting of Blickling Hall on Friday, August 11, with The Urban Soul Orchestra and DJ Goldierocks coming back to entertain the crowds after last year’s sellout success. Next night it is the turn of lovers of Land of Hope and Glory as Blickling hosts the Great British Prom, with the National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Anthony Inglis.
Welsh singers Only Men Aloud and soprano Annette Wardell join the orchestra and the evening concludes with a firework spectacular. There’s also a prize for the best-dressed iconic British character, so perhaps it’s time to dust off that John Bull outfit.
A little further up the road are two new events on the outdoor music calendar; The music of Abba and the British Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, August 5, and the music of Elvis and the BSO on Sunday, August 6. Both gigs are in the grounds of Cromer Hall, making its debut as an outdoor concert venue.
Here’s hoping for a long, hot summer.
