Look­ing for a lit­tle more space in your home? An or­angery or con­ser­va­tory might be just what you need.

Come rain or shine, con­ser­va­to­ries pro­vide a re­lax­ing space to sit back and en­joy some quiet time. Whether you’re look­ing for some­where to take in the views, a new din­ing room or to ex­tend your kitchen, Taver­ham Con­ser­va­to­ries and Win­dows has a va­ri­ety of so­lu­tions to choose from.

Started in 1985 by David Col­lier, the fam­ily-run busi­ness is now in the hands of his son Rob Col­lier and of­fers a range of home im­prove­ments in­clud­ing doors, win­dows, ex­ten­sions, or­angeries and con­ser­va­to­ries.

“An or­angery pro­vides a year-round room,” says the com­pany’s mar­ket­ing man­ager Nick Sut­ton. “There’s more in­su­la­tion and brick work but you still get the nat­u­ral light.

“They make great play­rooms, din­ing rooms, of­fice spa­ces or art stu­dios.”

With a show­room at Taver­ham Gar­den Cen­tre, the com­pany has a skilled team of fit­ters and builders who will take care of all the de­tails in­clud­ing any floor­ing and tiling that needs to be done, and will leave ev­ery­thing ready for the dec­o­ra­tors so you can take your time putting the fin­ish­ing touches to your new space.

In­side the show­room, there is a se­lec­tion of con­ser­va­to­ries, sam­ples, roof types and fin­ishes to give you a taste of what’s on of­fer, how­ever all the or­angeries are made to mea­sure and will be made be­spoke for your home.

“We can do dif­fer­ent shapes and styles and we also do ones that wrap around the side and back of the house – what­ever suits the cus­tomer,” says Nick.

“You won’t nor­mally need plan­ning per­mis­sion but if you do, we have our own ar­chi­tect who we can send round so the cus­tomer doesn’t need to worry.”

If you want to run through some ideas, a de­sign con­sul­tant will come out and draw up some op­tions with you.

“We have a strict, no-pres­sure sales at­ti­tude. It’s very much, have a chat, get a feel and then we leave the cus­tomer to see if they want to book some­thing in,” says Nick.

If you de­cide to go ahead, a sur­veyor with more than 30 years’ ex­pe­ri­ence will come round and get ac­cu­rate mea­sure­ments and spec­i­fi­ca­tions for the job. And when work starts, you don’t need to be at home ei­ther. “We just need ac­cess and then we can crack on with it, has­sle free,” says Nick. “If we come across any prob­lems while the job is go­ing on, we no­tify the cus­tomer first and then of­fer them a range of so­lu­tions.”

With qual­ity at the top of the agenda, each or­angery and con­ser­va­tory comes with a 10 year guar­an­tee.

“For us it’s all about cus­tomer sat­is­fac­tion. If the cus­tomer is sat­is­fied, we know we’ve done our job prop­erly,” says Nick.
