SPONSORING CHEF OF THE YEAR Steve Thorpe, assistant principal at City College

Norwich: “As a past recipient of the outstanding achievement award I recognise and appreciate the value these awards are held by all across the sector.

“City College Norwich has been involved in delivering and supporting vocational education and training for over 125 years. The Hotel School provides education, training and development for those working in the food and drink industry and is a gold accredited provider recognised by the sector for its close links working with employers to provide the workforce for the future

“The title of chef of the year is the most sort and respected across the region, the Hotel School has been associated with training chefs for many years so it was logical that this was the award that links best with that strong and continuing history. We also would like to encourage our wonderful Norfolk female chefs to enter the awards who have been somewhat under represented in the past, this is their opportunity to show how they stand out in such a male-dominated industry.

“The Food and Drink Awards are held in high esteem by the sector, the variety of categories enables the whole industry to be showcased with peers reflecting on the best and the awards then used to profile the business to a wider potential market.”
