Warm weather, clear blue skies and one of Norfolk’s most beautiful beaches – what better way to showcase some of the key looks for the season ahead?
IT CAN be hard to know what to wear on a day out at this time of the year, when cool spring winds can still leave a slight chill in the air, despite the sunshine.
Thanks to family-owned Norwich boutiques Hatters, Ginger, Chadds and Jonathan Trumbull, which sponsored this month’s fashion shoot at Winterton beach, you can get plenty of inspiration for your wardrobe.
From lightweight jackets, stylish knitwear and pretty dresses for women, to casual tailoring and cool footwear for men, there are a few key trends to look out for this spring.
Beckie Kingsley, manager of Ginger in Norwich, said “As the shoot was taking place in the dunes and on the beach, we wanted to create a look which was romantic and practical. The cream wide-leg jumpsuit is a must- have for summer again this season. They are such an easy option and work for so many different occasions. But most importantly, they look fantastic whatever your shape or size. Whether you are have a tall slender frame or have lovely voluptuous curves, the jumpsuit looks fabulous.
“The one we used in the shoot is part of the Art365 collection from Marella which I love. They have created a very clever capsule collection featuring lots of different pieces made in the same material so you can mix and match it perfectly.”
She said that off-the-shoulder dresses will also be popular for the summer, as will wardrobe staples in coral, to add a pop of colour to whites and creams. “I also love the knitwear brand Charli. It makes a casual but elegant addition to your wardrobe, perfect for cooler spring days and summer evenings.”
For menswear David Kingsley, who oversees Jonathan Trumbull and Hatters, said the shoot brings out some of the key looks for spring/ summer – including the must-have Burberry Brit Mac and the Stone Island jacket, which picks up on the trend for technical outerwear.
“Polo shirts are always a classic staple of a man’s wardrobe and look crisp and sharp. In our three men’s stores, we do at least 15 different brands from Lacoste and Hugo Boss to Gant,” he said.
“Loafers, such as the GH Bass range, are also a great fresh new look this year. They can be worn with tailored shorts as well. Finally, athletic-inspired designs, such as casual hooded tops, are really popular with many brands.”
