If the magic of Great Yarmouth’s maritime past or international street skills and circus acts aren’t your thing, the special events don’t stop there.
September sees the annual three-day EASTERN FESTIVAL OF RACING
at Great Yarmouth Racecourse which attracts thousands of spectators, from families to passionate racegoers, and not forgetting LADIES DAY where everyone dresses to impress. The event runs from Tuesday, September 19 to Thursday, September 21, and will feature a strong programme of top jockeys and horses with more than 20 flat races across the three days. www.greatyarmouthracecourse.co.uk The sport doesn’t end there – for four weeks every year starting at the end of August, more than 1,200 competitors descend on the town for the biggest outdoor open bowling event in the country. The
GREAT YARMOUTH FESTIVAL OF BOWLS
sees the Britannia Bowling Greens on the seafront transformed into a hugely competitive arena where bowlers battle it out for men’s, ladies and mixed team titles.
As well as attracting players from all over the country, it also draws a huge number of spectators who gather on the benches and seating areas around the arena in the September sunshine with views of the sea.The 2017 festival takes place from Sunday, August 27 to Friday, September 22.
