HAVING spent 15 years managing an estate of 70 pubs, Paula Gundry’s role as operations manager immersed her in all areas of the businesses – including major refurbishment projects.
At the age of 21, she had already taken on her first major property development and that, combined with her commercial experience in the pub trade, inspired her to set up her own interior design business.
“My father was a bricklayer so as a little girl I used to sit and study the plans he used to bring home from work. Clearly property is very much in the genes and I grew and developed my skills over the years.”
She opened her first shop in 2013 before moving to the new Westlegate shop last year combining her commercial and residential experience.
“I’m very fortunate to have created a business which I’m still passionate about, meeting some lovely clients and working in all types of homes, from manor houses to cottages and everything in between.
“A key part of my role is to listen and help clients work out what they would like to achieve. I think people feel a little bit more relaxed coming into the shop. They can ask us questions and they can also decide whether or not we are for them. They can also get some ideas from the soft furnishings, furniture and finishings we have in store.”
Paula, who moved from Newcastle to Norfolk 15 years ago, says she loves living in the county.
“I am quite outdoorsy and sporty so I love that there are so many places to go running or for a walk. It really is a fabulous environment to live and work in.”
