Sharing the burden of moving
Rogers & Norton joins forces with Age UK to help people moving home in later life
ROGERS and Norton have unveiled a joint scheme with Age UK Norfolk supporting older people in the county who are thinking of moving, downsizing or contemplating a move into a retirement home, with specialist legal services.
Moving home can be a daunting and stressful prospect, whatever age you are, but it can be compounded if you have lived in your home for many years and it is filled with many memories, and untold possessions. It’s important to have the peace of mind and reassurance and Age UK Norfolk, with the backing and full support of Rogers and Norton, will provide the necessary information, advice and practical support to guide clients through the relocation to help to ease some of that anxiety.
We have a team of specialist lawyers who will be personally responsible for helping support clients through the transaction. They will arrange an initial home visit to introduce themselves and to explain what is going to happen and why. They can also explain what forms need to be completed and help fill them in if required and provide weekly updates on the progress of the transaction.
The conveyancing teams at our offices in Norwich and Attleborough are acutely aware of how difficult the upheaval can be when moving home in later life. We thought we could help alleviate the stress involved by offering a bespoke service to Age UK Norfolk and the older people they support.
We’ve produced a timetable of what a home mover needs to do and when, together with a change of address checklist, to help guide our clients through the transaction. In many instances it is quite some time since people last moved home and many things have been added to the list of jobs that need doing. There are a considerable number of actions that have to be carefully planned to help the move flow smoothly; we want to be able to support clients through the process by maintaining clear and prompt communication channels.
Our experienced teams have the skill sets to deal with a wide variety of transactions from land purchase and new build through to sales and purchases and equity release. The team works closely with our private client department who can provide advice on wills, trusts and lasting powers of attorney.
