What’s been occurring in the county?
The Great British Prom is returning to Blickling on Saturday August 11, celebrating 100 years of the RAF. The National Symphony Orchestra will be leading the musical programme and organisers of the event, now a favourite in Norfolk’s outdoor concert calendar, have revealed that a Spitfire will be returning for the evening.
Lisa Ward, from organisers Revival Productions, says: “There’s a huge, national respect for the RAF and Norfolk has played an important part in its history. The 2018 event is going to be very special; not just because we’re celebrating the RAF centenary, but also because we will be seeing the return of a Spitfire to the programme which always delights the crowd. The musical programme will be a celebration of those magnificent men in their flying machines”.
Meanwhile the fabled music superclub Ministry of Sound is to join the Urban Soul Orchestra for Classic Ibiza for at Blickling on Friday, August 10. Stephen Hussey, founder and conductor of USO said: “The Classic Ibiza formula works so well because it’s something new and different that appeals to so many people. Having Ministry of Sound on board turns the dial up to 11!” A limited number of early bird tickets are now available at a reduced price.
