Happy thoughts of the old days
FOLLOWING John Whitbread’s letter ( Herald & News, November 20), I am also very sorry the Herald is closing.
I was employed for more than 40 years on the production staff, starting as an apprentice compositor in the Weybridge office in 1945.
After two years’ national service in the RAF, I returned to continue my employment. I have seen changes in the printing methods from the traditional ink and type faces to computerised production.
I made many friends over the years with the AS readers will know, the Spelthorne Business Plan Competition opened for entries in September.
In the first round, entrants were asked to think of a business idea and complete a short concept plan. There were lots of great ideas
