7 BUCOLIC BATHING
Breezy North Yorkshire is the unexpected home of this beautiful new spa, housed on the rooftop garden at Regency-style house-turned-hotel Rudding Park. The rooftop garden, designed by Radio 4 Gardeners’ Question Time doyen Matthew Wilson to echo the nearby Victorian spa town of Harrogate, has taken nine years to complete. Water is drawn up from the grounds to irrigate the garden’s grasses, as well as fill the steaming open-air bath. Inside the spa, have a Moorish mud treatment or relax in the herbal steam room and juniper wood sauna before dinner at Horto, the elegant and delicious on-site restaurant (ruddingpark.co.uk).
