ORIGAMI ARCHITECTURE
The Japanese art of paper folding was a key trend on this year’s fashion catwalks, which has inevitably filtered into home design. The surprise is that it also informs new architecture. Move over straight walls and symmetry; enter converging angles, razor-sharp corners and prismatic designs. This residence in Abdulla Al- Salem, a suburb of Kuwait City, takes the aesthetic to the extreme. It is home to a young family, who commissioned AGI Architects in 2006 to create a comfortable, 1,300-square-metre living space that was also a talking point. They moved in when it was completed in 2014, aptly naming their new home Origami House. agi-architects.com
