YOUNG DESIGNER STUDIO SWINE

ELLE Decoration (UK) - - Elle Deco -

This collaboration between Japanese architect Azusa Murakami and British artist Alexander Groves has a uniquely broad approach and style, with work straddling the spheres of art, design and cinema. Indeed, the studio’s very name is a mission statement – Swine stands for ‘Super Wide Interdisciplinary New Explorers’. One of its most enchanting projects is ‘New Spring’ – produced for fashion brand Cos and shown at last year’s Milan Furniture Fair, it consisted of a stylised white aluminium tree that produced steam-filled soap bubbles that burst on contact with the human body. The concept was inspired by the cherry blossom festival in Japan and, like many of Studio Swine’s other works, it pays homage to experiential art and collective participation (studioswine.com). ➤
