THE MAKERS HOUSE LIDDICOAT & GOLDHILL
Wedged between two tall mid-victorian houses, this four-storey east London home is a brilliant study in inventiveness and beautiful bespoke detailing. It was built over four years, giving Liddicoat & Goldhill time to carefully consider every space. For example, the rooms on the upper floors are unified by a richly-coloured Rhodesian mahogany parquet floor, salvaged from a 1970s fire station. The exterior’s sloped roof was angled specifically to allow light to fill every corner of the home, while two double-height doors open out onto a simple courtyard garden ( liddicoatgoldhill.com).
