THE THEATRE FESTIVAL TO KNOW ABOUT
Some of theatre’s most exciting names have got their early breaks in the seaside town of Aldeburgh thanks to HighTide, its annual festival of new plays. Rob Drummond’s In Fidelity and Theresa Ikoko’s Girls (pictured below) both premiered at the festival before going on to national tours.
The highly anticipated debuts for this year include the second
GO SEE coming of Kanye West in
Sam Steiner’s play Kanye the First, and Heroine by TV and theatre writer Nessah Muthy, in which an ex-servicewoman struggles with patriotism and her sense of belonging.
If Aldeburgh’s fish and chips and pebbled beaches are unreachable, the festival will also make its debut in Walthamstow, East London. Tickets for both are available onsite at the festival box office or online at Hightide.org.uk.
