ALL ABOUT MOTHER NATURE
FROM FASHION WEEK TO FOOD TRENDS, ETHICAL LIVING IS GETTING A WHOLE LOT OF LOVE
Eco fashion house Ministry of Tomorrow recently launched its own online magazine,
MOT. Issue one celebrates Vivienne Westwood’s commitment to saving the planet (pictured below) and shines a light on subjects including bionic yarn and history’s most iconic activists. A new generation of forward-thinking creatives — such as French designer Faustine Steinmetz, who makes recycled and hand-woven denim pieces, and Paola Masperi of Mayamiko, an ethically minded label that uses vibrant textiles from Malawi fabric markets — is helping to quash any remaining stigma attached to sustainable fashion.
Zero waste has also been creeping into the food and drink scene, with London pioneering the movement. The ‘Scratch’ set menu at Somerset House’s Spring restaurant is an innovative three-course affair made from the day’s leftovers, while east London cocktail bar Scout grows herbs and infuses seasonal ingredients on site. Asparagus, parsnip and cream are all used in cocktails, to delicious effect.
