RE­VEAL­ING THE STO­RIES BE­HIND ICONIC OUT­FITS From Brook­lyn-based writer Emily Spi­vack comes Worn in New York, a set of sto­ries chron­i­cling the mean­ings and mem­o­ries be­hind items of cloth­ing. The com­mon thread is that each per­son tells the story of a piece they once wore in New York, like model Coco Rocha on Eliz­a­beth Tay­lor’s jump­suit. ‘I have been a huge fan of Eliz­a­beth Tay­lor ever since I saw Na­tional Vel­vet as a child. When my friend in­vited me to the Christie’s auc­tion of [her] cloth­ing, I jumped at the chance. When that [Givenchy jump­suit] came up, I put my hand up […] and sud­denly it was mine. All these older women turned and looked at me. One asked, “What are you go­ing to do with that?” […] I looked at [them], con­fused. “I’m go­ing to wear it. Isn’t that why we’re here?”’
