From interviewing to press launches, product testing to writing and editing, there is no such thing as an average working day for ELLE’s beauty director Sophie Beresiner (that she is boarding a flight to New York for Fashion Week the morning after this shoot rather says it all). It’s hardly surprising, then, that certain routines are sacred: a good night’s sleep is invaluable — as is a fool-proof morning beauty routine. ‘I stick to very quick and easy products that multi-task and I can rely on,’ she says. ‘I never have time to re-do or touch up my make-up, and actually I don’t think about it once it’s on my face — unless I’m in a bold lip, which I always mess up during any meal — so I need long-wear products that don’t bother me once I’ve applied them.’ One other constant is her morning coffee. ‘I always step into the office with a hot drink in my hand,’ she admits. ‘I feel odd if I don’t start the working day with one.’ After that? Anything goes.
