The flash­back to the night the board gather to de­cide Jobs’ fate needed some­thing ex­treme. As Boyle points out, all the mem­o­ries within the film are sub­jec­tive, and in­evitably Jobs would am­plify the de­tails of “the worst night of his life” into a Bib­li­cal down­pour. “It might have been a shower of rain, which is un­usual for Cal­i­for­nia, but Steve would have re­mem­bered it as apoc­a­lyp­tic. It was the night that he lost the com­pany.”
