TAKE A SLOW TRAIN
ALL ABOARD THE UPDATED CALEDONIAN SLEEPER, DEPARTING IN SPRING
It’s not the Orient Express, but you do get to enjoy a decent dinner and a good night’s sleep in your own cabin on the Caledonian Sleeper, which hauls you from London Euston up to the Highlands overnight in an excellent use of otherwise wasted time. How better to doze off than with a wee dram of something potent and a gentle lulling motion? This year, a fleet of shiny new trains will replace the current, rather well-loved ones, giving you the opportunity to slumber in the only double beds available on any UK railway. The bespoke mattresses are topped with plush bed linen, and another new feature is en-suites in every cabin.
