I HAVE always loved birds and animals and after I retired I had time, in between spending great times with the grandchildren, to draw, paint and photograph them.
I spend hours watching birds in the garden, such as the noisy baby sparrows and starlings who roost in our honeysuckle hedge and cheep demandingly non-stop in springtime, and any others who can get a look in.
On frosty winter mornings I am mad enough to venture into the garden in nightie and goloshes to break the ice on the birdbath and put out a variety of food for the birds before getting our own breakfast. Any delay in this and the blackbird will pointedly come right up to the back door and stare accusingly. I can’t imagine life without birds.
