On the 1st October Down Hall welcomed 192 of Essex’s finest in the hospitality sector to host the annual Essex Food & Drink Awards.
This historic country house hotel from the 14 Century sat in 110 acres of parkland and landscaped gardens was the perfect setting for such a prestigious event.
Guests were welcomed to the hotel with a glass of champagne in the lounge before sitting down to an Essex inspired menu that complemented the awards dinner perfectly.
To start was a chicken caillette, deep fried oyster with shallot emulsion & shallot jus, to follow we had lamb rump, lamb breast, kale, hummus & sesame jus. For dessert we had a stunning chocolate & hazelnut delice, salted caramel, green tea macaron & yoghurt sorbet. Homemade pate de fruit was to accompany our coffee after dinner as we awaited the start of the awards ceremony.
It was a fantastic night of glitz and glamour celebrating everything that’s good about Essex produce, the quality of food & service that we offer our guests.
