WHAT THE WINNER SAID:

It’s absolutely fantastic, we are so excited to be here and delighted to be the winners of this award. I would like to think we have won because of the job we are doing educating Essex, teaching children what food is grown locally, the farmers, the field to the plate, how to use locally sourced food and eating good healthy foods. I would hope it shows people how good we are and it will bring more children to the programme. Thank you very much. It is a great honour and also down to the hard work and amazing team.

WHAT THE JUDGE SAID:

There has been a passion for educating children and adults about the origins of their food for more than 30 years at Barleylands. This is now manifested in a vibrant education programme that reaches thousands of people and literally takes produce from the field straight into the kitchen.
