19= Alfie Best
Caravan Parks, £160m
Gipsy Alfie Best left school at 12 but now owns 44 trailer parks. His Grays-based Wyldecrest Parks has added 14 parks to its portfolio just in the last year. The company expects to spend up to £17m on new acquisitions by the end of 2015. Best’s property empire includes the £12m Hertfordshire estate where he lives, but his expenses do not extend to a cleaner for the sevenbedroom house because his wife likes to take care of the chores. We can see one company, Shelfside Holdings, with £34.2m net assets in 2013. But we value Best at the £160m valuation he recently revealed to Anne Robinson in her BBC documentary series on Britons’ spending habits.
