King’s Head pub crowned top garden
A popular pub in Billericay has been recognised as having one of the UK’s best beer gardens after emerging triumphant from a competition run by national pub chain Vintage Inns.
The King’s Head was crowned as the regional winner of The Marvellous Vintage Inns Garden Competition for Essex. The contest, which began in April, aimed to find the very best spots in which the British public could enjoy their favourite drink in the summer sun.
The judges unanimously opted for The King’s Head thanks to its perfectly manicured displays, ample seating space and beautifully kept lawns. The pub secured a Fever Tree garden kit in honour of their achievement.
Dating back to 1750, when travellers journeying between Rochford and Brentwood would stop at The King’s Head for refreshment, the historic pub offers a welcoming outdoor area for those looking to enjoy a quiet drink at the end of a busy day exploring the countryside or once they have escaped the office.
Michael Breitsprecher, landlord at The King’s Head, said: ‘We are proud of the garden here at The King’s Head and take pride in maintaining it to ensure it is welcoming and enjoyable for all our guests. We like to think it is the perfect place for people to stop for a refreshing drink after a hard day’s work or a long walk in the countryside.’
