IT’S always nice to know there are still some amazing properties out there at affordable fixed prices. This one in Oldmeldrum, for example, has been the home for the past five years to Steve Dickie, 37, a maintenance supervisor with Halliburton, and his other half Sheryl Paul. Steve said: “Sheryl and I lived in Bridge of Don when we had our first son Dylan, but when we discovered she was pregnant with our second son Jake, we decided to upgrade to a four-bedroom. “This property was a newbuild and when Sheryl and I first saw the amazing view of Bennachie from the family room and master bedroom, our minds were made up there and then.” Steve and hair stylist, Sheryl, 32, who works at Saks Hair and Beauty in the city centre, opted for Oldmeldrum for easy commuting to Steve’s workplace in Dyce – and also because it’s such a family-friendly place to stay. Their lovely family home comprises a hall, cloakroom, lounge, openplan kitchen, dining and family room, master bedroom with en-suite shower room, three further double bedrooms, and a family bathroom. The house is mainly decorated in neutral tones with a splash of colour in the boys’ bedrooms. The open-plan area is Steve’s favourite space. “The first thing we did when we got the keys was to take down the wall that divided the kitchen from the dining room,” he said. “We both love that space as we can cook, and keep an eye on the boys at the same time.” The rear garden is where Sheryl is happiest attending to her vegetable patch where she grows radishes, runner beans, potatoes and carrots. “We’ve been very happy living here,” said Steve.
