THE idea of hav­ing a gym in your home had not re­ally oc­curred to Bart Von De Laar, un­til he found a flat in the Mill­burn Street de­vel­op­ment. The se­nior drilling en­gi­neer loves ex­er­cise, runs fre­quently and is of­ten seen pump­ing iron in Wood­bank gym. But when­ever he fan­cies a sneaky gym session be­fore head­ing to the of­fice or a quick workout with­out a jour­ney, the shared fa­cil­ity in the base­ment is a dream come true. “The gym has ev­ery­thing I need,” said the 33-year-old who grew up in Bield­side. Bart bought the prop­erty in early 2006 from plan. months and then for the next year and a half I rented it out,” he said. “About a year ago I started work on­shore and I moved into my flat per­ma­nently.” Bart was ini­tially at­tracted to the prop­erty be­cause of the large rooms and its cen­tral lo­ca­tion. When it came time to re-do the dec­o­ra­tion, Bart had the help of his knowl­edge­able girl­friend Lynsey An­gus. The 27-year-old re­cruiter had ex­pe­ri­ence of do­ing up her own prop­erty. Bart said: “Thanks to Lynsey I def­i­nitely have more of a clue about in­te­rior de­sign.” Bart won’t have to wait long un­til he can put what he has learned into prac­tice as the cou­ple are hop­ing to move into their first place to­gether.
