‘It’s a great place for kids to play’
Family’s delight at finding quiet cul-de-sac
KAREN Merrin had a very good feeling about her move into Newlands Avenue four years ago. Nurse Karen, 31, who works in the neo-natal unit at Aberdeen Maternity hospital, said: “With two young daughters, my husband Andrew and I were delighted to discover the house is in a quiet cul-de-sac. “It’s been wonderful being able to let our girls Amy and Sadie play outdoors on their bikes without too much worry. ” Karen and Andrew, 34, who runs the I-Aberdeen IT Company, were also impressed with how light and airy the threebedroom, mid-terraced family home is. The couple have redecorated every room, as well as removing the wall in the hall, gaining them extra floor space. The lounge and hallway, which both have stripped and varnished floorboards, have been decorated mainly in neutral colours. The bright and welcoming hallway is on open plan with the lounge and dining area. The lounge has large dual aspect windows which makes the ground floor a bright space. The fully-equipped kitchen – where Andrew frequently rustles up his signature curry dish – is fitted with a good range of modern wall and base units. Three bedrooms and the family bathroom on the upper floor complete the layout. The front garden has a small area of lawn, while the back garden features a patio area with the remainder laid in bark chips. The Merrin family are hoping to upgrade to a bigger property with Sadie’s little furry friend Fluffy the rabbit. “We’ve loved staying here, and will really miss our neighbours, but we are also excited about finding our next home,” said Karen.
