JENNIFER and Ian Ramsey couldn’t pass up the opportunity to live in the grounds of a historic Scottish estate. The couple, who have been together for 17 years, were quite happily settled elsewhere when they made their spontaneous decision. And seven years later, with a beautifully-styled home in a gorgeous setting, it’s clear to see it’s the best move they could have made. “I’m from Stonehaven originally and we obviously knew of the Ury Estate before,” said 36-year-old Jennifer, full-time mum to 10-month-old Mia. “But until seven years ago, we’d no idea that there were properties on the estate that you could live in. “We weren’t even thinking about moving but when we heard about them, we thought it sounded like something exciting and completely different for us.” Jennifer and Ian, a 33-year-old business acquisition manager for Wood Group PSN, had always wanted to build their own house from scratch. We purchased it in January and by September, it was finished.” Today, 3 Home Farm Steading is a bright and spacious threebedroom family home, with immaculate, modern decor. One of the stand-out features of the property is its open-plan kitchen and dining room – a spacious area complemented by striking, contemporary fixtures. A colourful feature wall in the lounge lends some bright character to this room, while each of the bedrooms has its own elegant style. Living on a country estate has lots of benefits for the Ramseys. “It’s very peaceful and we get to see lots of wildlife around us all the time,” said Jennifer. “We have a woodpecker who
