Home with really rosy outlook
Couple fell in love with pink granite property
CHARLIE and Karen Paterson were certainly in the pink when they found their stylish West End home. The couple were on the lookout for a property with a great location nine years ago. And when Charlie, 44, and Karen, 33, set eyes on the striking buildings of Aberdeen’s Hamilton Place, their minds were made up. “We’d never seen pink granite before we went to view the property,” said chartered engineer Charlie. “The combination of the pink with the traditional granite was really striking, and with it being an A-listed building it looked very nice. In fact all the buildings on this side of the street are listed – it’s a very attractive street.” Charlie and Karen, who is training to be a GP, were won over by the peaceful feel of the two-bedroom property. In their time there they have decorated throughout the flat – which occupies the entire top floor of the building – including laying carpets and putting in a new kitchen. And with incredible views of the southern skyline of the city, it’s been a stylish home for the pair. Charlie said: “The flat overlooks a bowling green, which is nice, and you can see right across the city. “The views really are fantastic. It’s very quiet too – apart from the occasional cheers from the bowlers below.” The standout feature of this flat is the main living space which is huge and perfect for entertaining. The lounge is on an open plan with the dining room and is a bright, modern room. The kitchen is attractive, with good quality fixtures, while the master bedroom has a lot of storage. But of all the things the Patersons will miss when they move on, it will be the location of their lovely home that will prove hardest to leave behind. “It’s in such a great spot – it’s close to Rosemount where you’ve got lots of shops,” said Charlie. “It’s also near lots of bars and restaurants that we have enjoyed going to – and been able to walk to. “And it’s obviously close to the town but is still quiet. Although it’s a through road, we really don’t get much traffic.” Looking to the future, Charlie and Karen are now looking to settle down in a house suitable for a family but hope another couple
will enjoy the home they’ve loved so much. “It’s a lovely area with so much going for it,” added Charlie.
“Views are really fantastic”
“For this property the location is the number one. That and the views.”
