ADANCE music legend is coming to play Aberdeen this weekend. And his gig will form part of a huge party to celebrate his 20 years in dance music. It can only mean one thing – Pete Tong is coming to town. Regarded as a British institution, Pete has clocked up two decades behind the decks of Radio 1 where he has become the station’s face of dance music. Born in Kent, Pete started broadcasting The Essential Mix in 1991. Over the years there have been many huge names to grace his decks – from a live essential mix from Joris Voorn, Carl Craig and more recently, a beatbox mix session by Beardyman, this eclectic show continues to highlight the best DJs from across all genres. Today the slot is considered the prime-time platform for electronic music and being played is proof for many an aspiring DJ-producer that they’ve “arrived”. He’s played it all – from acid house to funky house. And his sizzling summer parties in Pacha are the highlight of the Ibiza clubbing calendar. He will play The Forum on Saturday, from 10pm.
