Feast of top gigs for fans of live mu­sic

ONCE again, The Moor­ings Bar on Trin­ity Quay has a fan­tas­tic cou­ple of gigs lined up for this week­end, fea­tur­ing the cream of Aberdeen’s mu­si­cal crop. On Fri­day, re­cently-re­formed lo­cal punks Mal­func­tion are set to tear the roof down with their en­er­getic brand of hard punk rock, first heard in Aberdeen in the early 1980s. Then, on Satur­day rock out­fit Rise head­line an ex­cit­ing line-up. In­spired by clas­sic rock bands from the 1970s and 80s, Rise have a hard-hit­ting sound sure to bring a party at­mos­phere. Sup­port on the night will come from Road­way, last seen in Aberdeen as the back­ing band for ex-Rain­bow singer Doo­gie White, and lo­cal alt-rock­ers The Scan­dal Ex­tracts, whose grungy rock will kick things off nicely.
