Competition for home-made soap­box car­ties, part of Cat­ter­line Gala Week­end. Prizes for best en­gi­neered and best dec­o­rated, Satur­day. The car­ties are time­tri­aled down the brae from the Creel Inn to the har­bour on Sun­day from 1pm. En­tries from noon, judg­ing from 1pm. Also fer­ret rac­ing cham­pi­onships and the Ban­chory Birl, chain saw carv­ing, fly cast­ing, foot­ball, live mu­sic, stalls, St Ter­nan’s Fair, Bell­field Park, Ban­chory, 11am to 4.30pm Sun­day.

COUN­TRY­SIDE LIVE

Day out at Dunecht Es­tate, or­gan­ised by the Royal North­ern Agri­cul­tural So­ci­ety with pro­ceeds to Monty’s Maggie’s Ap­peal and CLAN. Farm tours, sports and live­stock judg­ing, 10am to 4pm Sun­day. Cel­e­brat­ing the work car­ried out by Aberdeen’s char­ity and com­mu­nity sec­tor on Satur­day. The event will start with the Union Street In­vi­ta­tional one-mile race from the Mu­sic Hall to Hol­burn Junc­tion at 11am. This will be fol­lowed by a pa­rade of around 3,000 peo­ple and en­ter­tainer from Al­byn Place along Union Street to the Castle­gate.

COVE GALA

Ac­tion-packed gala day fea­tur­ing stalls, chil­dren’s en­ter­tain­ment and fam­ily fun, Loirston School Play­ing Field, noon to 5pm Satur­day. Fun for all ages at this year’s event at Balme­die Pri­mary School, noon to 4pm Satur­day. Craigiebuck­ler Church Hall, Spring­field Road. Col­lec­tion for Wil­lows Sanc­tu­ary, from

3pm Sun­day. A fundrais­ing and aware­ness day or­gan­ised by Vol­un­tary Ser­vice Aberdeen with en­ter­tain­ment and fun ac­tiv­i­ties. Stalls, fair­ground, dance groups, ac­tiv­i­ties, re­fresh­ments, pro­duce, crafts and mini mar­ket, Duthie Park, Aberdeen, 10am to 4pm Sun­day.

ST TER­NAN’S HER­ITAGE FAIR

Open Day at St Ter­nan’s Lodge of Freema­sons, Mount Street, Ban­chory, re­fresh­ments, 10am to 4pm. The li­brary and mu­seum will also have ac­tiv­i­ties from 10am Satur­day.
